How to connect Supabase to Claude

Query tables, inspect schema, and run read-only SQL against Supabase from chat instead of opening the dashboard for every ad hoc question.

Supabase

Database context without sharing admin keys.

Supabase powers your app data. Connect it in Faction with read-only mode when you want chat to explore tables and run SQL without hand-copying connection strings into every AI app.

Connect once at the org level

Set up Supabase a single time instead of asking everyone to paste their own keys into Claude.

Workspace boundaries

Give data and other teams the Supabase tools they need without one shared bundle for the whole company.

Tool-scoped access

Each workspace URL exposes only the Supabase actions admins turn on, not every connector in your org.

Works across AI clients

Use the same workspace URL in Claude, Cursor, ChatGPT, or any MCP client your team prefers.

Step by step

Connect Supabase to Claude

Six steps from a fresh organization to chatting with Supabase inside Claude.

01

Create your Faction organization

Sign up free and create an organization. This is where admins connect tools once, so teammates never wire up their own integrations.

02

Connect Supabase from the catalog

Open the integration catalog in Faction and connect Supabase with OAuth. Pick a shared org connection or let each teammate sign in with their own account.

03

Bundle Supabase into a workspace

Create a workspace for the team that needs it, such as data, and add Supabase. Admins choose exactly which tools are on for that workspace.

04

Copy your workspace MCP URL

Every workspace exposes one MCP URL with only the tools you enabled. Copy it from the workspace settings in Faction.

05

Add the URL to Claude

In Claude, go to Settings, then Connectors and add your Faction workspace URL.

  • Open Claude and go to Settings, then Connectors.
  • Choose Add custom connector and paste your Faction workspace MCP URL.
  • Approve the connection. Claude lists only the tools from the workspace you enabled.

06

Start chatting

Ask Claude to use Supabase in plain language. Faction handles auth and scopes behind one URL.

  • "How many organizations signed up last week?"
  • "Show the schema for the subscriptions table."
  • "List users created in the last 24 hours."

Your workspace URL

One link connects your whole team.

Faction gives your team a shared AI workspace that plugs into the tools you already use. Each workspace gets one link (an MCP URL) that includes only the tools your admins turn on. Paste it into Claude once and everyone is connected. No keys to copy, nothing to set up per person.

What the MCP server can do

  • List projects and tables

Browse schema and see what data exists in the projects you scoped.

  • Run SQL queries

Answer product and ops questions with SELECT queries against live data.

  • Read migrations and docs

Check schema history and Supabase docs when debugging data questions.

  • Manage projects

Create branches or adjust project settings when write tools are enabled.

Use cases

  • Product and growth metrics

Count signups, active orgs, or feature usage for weekly business reviews.

  • Support investigations

Look up a user or order record during a customer issue without SQL access for every teammate.

  • Ops reporting

Pull operational counts from Postgres without building a one-off dashboard each time.

FAQs

  • Do I have to set up Supabase for every teammate?

No. An admin connects Supabase once at the org level. Teammates just add the workspace URL to Claude and start chatting.

  • How does authentication work?

OAuth sign-in. Team connection uses one Supabase account for everyone. Per-user lets each member sign in with their own Supabase account.

  • Does this work with Claude?

Yes. Claude supports remote MCP connectors, so you can point it at any Faction workspace URL and use the tools that workspace allows.

  • Can I control which tools Claude can use?

Yes. Each workspace exposes only the tools admins turn on, so the URL you share never grants more than intended.

  • Can I limit Supabase to read-only?

Yes. Turn on read-only mode when connecting. SQL runs as a read-only Postgres user and mutating tools stay off.
