Add a codebase in Resources
Go to Resources, then Codebases. Enter owner/repo, set a default branch, and optionally allow or deny paths so AI only reads the directories you intend.

Faction connects GitHub repositories through a per-repo GitHub App. AI searches and reads live files on the default branch using path rules admins set, whether teammates chat in Faction or connect an external AI app to the workspace MCP URL.

Go to Resources, then Codebases. Enter owner/repo, set a default branch, and optionally allow or deny paths so AI only reads the directories you intend.

Authorize Faction for that repository only. Each codebase gets its own install so access stays scoped to the repo and path rules you configured.

Open the workspace Codebases tab and add the codebase from your org library. Bundle it with documents or other integrations the team needs, then assign members.

Teammates ask questions, search code, and read files through Faction's native code tools in chat or through the workspace MCP URL in Cursor or Claude.
Use cases
New engineers search for auth patterns, config conventions, and service boundaries instead of paging a teammate for every file path.
Search live code for how a feature works, then read the exact files. No local clone and no stale snapshot from last week.
Attach the product repo next to Notion specs and customer feedback so PMs and engineers reference the same implementation details.
Limit AI to docs/, packages/api/, or other paths when a workspace should not expose the full repository.
